SmarterMail offers both free and paid licensing options:
Free Edition: Allows for 1 domain and up to 10 mailboxes.
Paid Licenses: To unlock additional mailboxes and access advanced features, a paid license key must be activated.
To manage your SmarterMail license:
Activate: Use this option to activate a new SmarterMail license key. Activating a paid license requires authentication by verifying the SmarterTools account login credentials. Trial license keys do not require authentication to be activated.
Reactivate: Use this option to refresh the limits of the SmarterMail installation, especially after purchasing an add-on, upgrading to the Enterprise edition, or increasing the mailbox limit. Reactivating is immediate and does not require authentication with the SmarterTools account credentials.
Yes, you can upgrade from the Free Edition to a paid license by purchasing a license key and activating it through the Licensing section in the SmarterMail interface.
No, with SmarterMail, it is not possible to renew your license for fewer mailboxes than the current license. Instead, you would need to purchase a new key, which may cost less than renewing.
