Only the account owner can invite delegates. If you're a delegate yourself, ask the account owner to do this.
Invite a delegate
Log in to your account at my.motherhost.com.
Click your profile icon at the top right, then click My Profile.
Click User Management.
Under Invite New User, enter the person's email address. You can also enter their Name (optional).
Choose their permissions:
- All Permissions gives them every permission.
- Choose Permissions lets you tick only the permissions they need.
See Delegate access: levels of permission for what each one allows.
Optionally, tick Also notify this person by email about account activity if they should receive invoice and ticket emails for the areas they can see.
Click Send Invite.
You'll see Invite sent. The person now appears in the User Management list with a Pending label, marked Invited — hasn't accepted yet, until they accept.
What the invited person does
If they're new to Motherhost:
- They receive an email invitation from Motherhost and click the link in it.
- On the Activate your account page, they enter a password in Choose a password, re-enter it in Confirm password, and click Activate Account.
- They accept your invite, and your account opens.
If they already have a Motherhost login:
- They receive an email telling them they've been invited to your account.
- They log in at my.motherhost.com with their usual email and password.
- They see "You've been invited to access (your name)'s account" and click Accept.
Once they've accepted, the Pending label disappears and the list shows their Last Login.
Switching between accounts
A delegate with access to more than one account (including their own) switches between them with the organization switcher in the top menu. They click it, then choose an account under Switch Organization. The account owned by the delegate is marked (Owner).
Invite not received?
- Ask the person to check their spam or junk folder.
- Check that you entered the right email address. If it's wrong, click Remove Access next to it, then invite the correct address.
- In User Management, click Resend Invite next to the pending user. The button changes to Invite Resent.
- If the person sees "This invite link is invalid or has expired", resend the invite and ask them to use the link in the newest email.
"This email is already associated with this account." means the person already has access to your account, or has a pending invite. Look for them in the User Management list.
