Delegate access lets you give another person access to your Motherhost account without sharing your password. That person is called a delegate. In your account, delegates are listed as users under My Profile → User Management.

Each delegate logs in with their own email address and password, and they can only do what you allow. For example, you could let:

  • your accountant view and pay invoices, but not touch your hosting
  • your web developer manage your hosting and domains, but not see your invoices
  • a colleague open and reply to support tickets on your behalf

Each account has one owner. You can invite as many delegates as you need.

Why use delegate access instead of sharing your password?

  • Your password stays private. Delegates use their own login, including their own sign-in codes and two-factor authentication.
  • You control what they can see and do. Give each person only the permissions they need. See Delegate access: levels of permission.
  • You can change or remove access at any time. Removing a delegate takes effect immediately. You don't need to change your own password.
  • One login for many accounts. If you manage several Motherhost accounts (for example, for clients), you can switch between them after logging in once.

How it works

  1. The account owner invites the person by email from User Management and picks their permissions. See Invite a delegate to access my Motherhost account.
  2. The person accepts the invite. Someone new to Motherhost first sets a password.
  3. They log in and switch to your account using the organization switcher.

The Affiliates area belongs to each person, so a delegate never sees the owner's affiliate earnings, and the owner never sees the delegate's.
