To work on someone else's Motherhost account, such as a client's, your employer's or a colleague's, you need the account owner to invite you as a delegate. For security, access can only be given by the owner. Motherhost staff can't add you to another person's account, and there's no request button you can use yourself.

Never ask the owner for their password. As a delegate you get your own login and only the access the owner chooses.

Step 1: Ask the account owner to invite you

Send the account owner:

  • the email address you want to log in with. If you already have a Motherhost account, use that email address so that you can reach both accounts with one login.
  • what you need to do, such as "pay invoices", "manage hosting and domains" or "open support tickets". This helps them choose the right permissions.
  • this link, which shows them how: Invite a delegate to access my Motherhost account

Step 2: Accept the invite

If you're new to Motherhost:

  1. Open the invitation email from Motherhost and click the link.
  2. On the Activate your account page, choose a password, confirm it, and click Activate Account.
  3. Accept the invite.

If you already have a Motherhost login:

  1. Log in at my.motherhost.com.
  2. You'll see "You've been invited to access (owner's name)'s account". Click Accept.

If you don't want the access, click Decline, then confirm. The owner can invite you again later.

Step 3: Switch to the account

If you have access to more than one account, use the organization switcher in the top menu and choose the account under Switch Organization. Only the menu items you have permission for are shown.

Can't reach the owner?

If the owner has left the business or can't be contacted, email support@motherhost.com from your email address. Explain your link to the account, for example as the business's new director. Our team will explain what we need to verify before we can help. We can't give access without the owner's consent or proof of authority.
